Actress Madhuri Dixit says it was tough and emotional for her to play a role which was to be originally envisioned for Sridevi in Kalank, on the sidelines of teaser launch here in Mumbai.
The entire ensemble of Kalank along with makers, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Varman, Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar was spotted at the teaser launch of the film.
Madhuri plays Bahaar Begum in Kalank, which was originally penned keeping Sridevi in mind, but due to her demise last year, the role was offered to Madhuri.
At the film’s teaser launch on Tuesday, Madhuri was asked about how she felt on the sets of Kalank knowing that the character was supposed to be played by Sridevi.
She said, “It was such a sad thing to happen, and during that time when I was approached to do this role, I had a heavy heart, there were a lot of feelings in my heart. She was a great artist, and a good human being and something like this happened to her”
“But to step into the role, when you look into it as an actress, it’s a different scenario as you add your own inputs to the character, but we used to remember her on sets because she was supposed to do this role. But once you start working, you got to look beyond your feelings; you have to do your job and perform your role well. I did that, but we all miss her terribly”
Directed by Abhishek Verman, the film is bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandsons releases on 17th April.
