Filmmaker Amit Sharma and Ajay Devgn are collaborating for the biopic based on Syed Abdul Rahim, and now it is been confirmed that South actress Keerthy Suresh will play the female lead in the film, which chronicles the Indian football team’s glory years.
South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh is on board to play the female lead (wife to Ajay’s Syed) in the film, which chronicles Indian football team’s glory from 1950 to 1963.
Confirming the news, Taran Adarsh tweeted, “IT’S OFFICIAL… Keerthy Suresh – a leading name in South Indian films – to make her Hindi film debut opposite Ajay Devgn… #BadhaaiHo director Amit Sharma will direct… Produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta”
Syed Abdul Rahim was India’s football coach. He was a coach from the year 1950-1963. He had a vision and a career in football when India’s National sport was hockey, and many Indian sportsmen wished to be part of hockey and cricket teams.
It is also reported that the film also depicts a conservative love story which focuses on the couple’s life after marriage. The film is not being planned as a bilingual release but as a Hindi feature film. The film will have a pan-India reach, with potential to be one of the biggest films that will break the language barrier.
Ajay Devgn will also be seen in De De Pyaar De and Luv Ranjan’s next. He will also have a role in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming cop franchise film Sooryavanshi which narrates Akshay Kumar’s story of turning a cop in the film.
